Summary

Chick-fil-A applied for a special use permit and related approvals to modify its existing drive-through and building at 9509 Fairfax Boulevard (applications SU-24-00078/SE-24-00079). The proposed project includes a building addition, a dual drive-through lane, and widening of the pick-up window lane. At the September 9, 2025 City Council meeting, all three required approvals were granted unanimously: (1) a special use permit to modify the drive-through and building per City Code Section 6.7 (with three conditions); (2) special exceptions from transitional yard, building yard, and bulk plane requirements per City Code Section 110-6.16 (with two conditions); and (3) a certificate of appropriateness per City Code Section 110-6.5 (with three conditions). The approvals were subsequently noted in the October 13, 2025 Planning Commission staff report as a confirmed Council action. The matter is fully resolved.
