Black History Month

Mayor Catherine S. Reid (Read) presented the Black History Month proclamation at both the January 28, 2025 and February 10, 2026 council meetings. In 2026, she personally read the proclamation, which acknowledged systemic racism, generational trauma, and the 100-year centennial of National Negro History Week, and encouraged all residents to commit to learning Black American history.
